„Gefechtsbericht: 1935 Uhr, Noyelles-Godault, bei Henin Liétard. Vickers-Zweisitzer, Nr. 4997. Motor Nr. 917, 8-Zylinder-Stand. Motor. Insassen: Leutnants Bates und Barnes, beide getötet. Mit drei Flugzeugen meiner Staffel griff ich ein feindliches Bombengeschwader bestehend aus Vickers (alter Typ) über Henin Liétard an. Nach einem kurzen Kampf begann mein Gegner zu gleiten und stürzte schließlich in ein Haus bei Noyelles-Godault. Die Insassen wurden beide getötet und die Maschine zerstört.“
